Zita White

Australian author born in Queensland in 1933. Only wrote two pony novels as far as I am aware as well as writing/editing two non-fictional horse books. Her pony books were published in the UK rather than in her native Australia and both have nice illustrations by Sheila Rose.

Pony Books:

THE ONE-DAY PONIES
(LUTTERWORTH 1958)
ILLUSTRATED BY SHEILA ROSE
SUMMARY: A group of cattle station children pit their ranch-bred ponies against the posh Pony Club mounts at a One-Day Event.
PONYMAD RATING: 2 HORSESHOES

RIDE ACROSS THE OCEAN
(LUTTERWORTH 1959)
ILLUSTRATED BY SHEILA ROSE
SUMMARY: Jem is distraught when she has to leave her beloved pony behind when the family moves to Australia. But there, with the friendship of a horsy girl called Pam, she learns that there is fun to be had with horses in her new home too, and she even learns new riding skills.

Collectors Info:
Oddly the books were first published in the UK and as far as I know were not reprinted in the author's native Australia. In fact I don't think they were reprinted at all. Quite hard to find, although not usually very expensive.
